I Am Meditating


A calm mind is natural but not necessarily normal. I practice daily meditation as a way to connect with my core self and stay centered in my heart. I breathe rhythmically with awareness and align with the wisdom of my inner being.

ACTION STEPS

Whenever you need to quiet your mind use the mantra “I Am Meditating” to flip the switch from monkey-mind to stillness.

Einstein said “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” Meditation will take you to another level of your mind that can access solutions. Write down your problem and forget about it while you meditate. Then come back to your problem and write the solution.

Meditation has several health benefits. A regular practice lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, increases concentration and attention, reduces anxiety, helps with depression, preserves the brain, supports addiction recovery, improves brain function, boosts the immune system and creates a sense of connection.

There are a variety of meditation practices to choose from that can effectively take you to a place of stillness. Find the one that works best for you and make time to cultivate inner peace. You will notice a big difference in how you feel with even five to ten minutes of meditation a day.

Having a sacred space to go to for meditation is an important trigger for you nervous system to calm down. This could be the corner of a room with a cushion or chair, or a solitary place in nature.

Innercises is a meditation practice that I created for the western mind that needs a reason to be still. It has four parts: Acceptance, Trust, Gratitude and Unconditional Love, that give your mind something to focus on while meditating. This is the practice we use in the spiritual part of Satori Yoga.

Being in a meditative state while eating will support healthy digestion. You will also be present to enjoy your food more while eating less.
